There’s an endless list of reasons why plant dye is so incredible to work with. There is also an even longer list for all the reasons it’s essential we get the industry to leave chemical processes behind. While this is unlikely to happen anytime soon, Tierra Wild is turning what started as plant dying experiments into the authentic high quality brand we’re all looking for.

Most manufacturers drench fabric in strong chemicals for their cheapness and speed. These damaging substances leak out through the water onto the land, then into the rivers and oceans, harming the core of what feeds and heals us. The potency tends to be so strong that when we wear the items of clothing our skin is also absorbing it all on a deep level, which means there’s subtle and steady harm being done to the body. We just see no reasons for beauty to be silently toxic.

When we use nature to dye we honour a communion with what feeds us on another level, an essential, beautiful and authentic level.

All Tierra Wild products are currently hand sewn and naturally dyed in South West Devon. The process can be a long and exciting one as plant dying is ever surprising and magical in its collaborative nature. To dye with plants is like a partnership where they offer their own unique flare, making each product totally special and unique from another.
